La meilleure affiche de film a été attribuée à Sweeny Todd lors des derniers Internet Movie Poster Awards (IMP).

Les contrastes, la combinaison des couleurs sombres et vives, le choix des polices d’écriture ainsi que la reproduction en haute qualité des petits détails symboliques du film ont impressionné le jury. L’agence BLT Associates, conceptrice entre autres des affiches d’ “I am a legend“, “Jumper“, “Pirates des Caraïbes” ou encore “American Gangster” se voit donc récompensé de bien belle manière.

L’explication du jury :

“A menacing looking barber, razor at the ready, sitting in his blood-red barber chair, waiting for his next victim. The poster for Sweeney Todd is dark, disturbing, and surprisingly beautiful. A very rare combination. Little details like the family portrait in the background, the red coming from the floorboards, and the splash of blood across the title makes for a very memorable design, and the IMP’s pick for the best of the year.”

Perhaps the worst thing about this poster is simply that it is bland. Three Oscar winning actors looking very awkward, especially Hoffman, who appears to have accidentally walked into the wrong photo shoot. People are more likely to see the movie in spite of the poster than because of it.
